Live music, fish and fairground

The celebration of the fishing festivals in Breskens goes back to the year 1953: an annual large and cosy event for everybody. There are acts of well-known Dutch performers, several bands are playing and street artists show their skills. You are also able to stroll along a large street market with all kinds of fun stands. And as if that were not enough, there are also two fairgrounds to visit for the younger holidaymakers, brimming with special attractions for children. You can also search the large annual flea market for second-hand treasures.

Museum of fishery and enjoying some fish

All of that entertainment almost makes you forget that this event evolves around fishery! The fishing industry is an importance source of income and of pleasure for a coastal town such as Breskens. When visiting the fishing festivals, you can also take a closer look at the fishing boats, visit the Visserijmuseum (fishery museum) or take part in a boat-trip. Something you really shouldn’t skip: eating a free fish in the fish mine!
